My client, a well-established company based in Muizenberg, is currently recruiting for a Commercial / Contract Manager with at least 10 years’ experience to join their team. The main purpose of the roll is to manage the financial and commercial aspects of various concurrent landscape projects

The Role & Key Responsibilities:

- Determine forecasts
- Ensure budgetary and performance targets are met
- Relaying of forecasts and projections to the finance department
- Ensure the buying department is procuring goods and services and estimated allowables
- Ensure claims/certificates are drafted, checked; optimised and submitted timeously
- Financial tracking of each project (with the operations manager) to determine the current state of profitability
- Drafting/submission of invoices based on approved certificates/claims
- Identifying financial opportunities on individual sites and ensuring that they are implemented
- Appointment of sub-contractors; monitoring and certification of sub-contractors claims
- Comparing and managing contractual processes side by side with the estimation department
- Site specific assessments to assist tendering team
- Determining future workload through communication with the estimation department
- Record keeping/Ledgers on project finances
- With information provided by the operations manager conduct project “post mortems” to identify how the project tracked against the estimation departments strategy and predictions
- Fostering clear and decisive communications with the various departments
- Contracts: (As a support to the estimation department) You will need to be well versed in commercial contract administration to negotiate/manage contracts within specified agreement terms/contracts [JBCC (full suite of contracts), GCC, NEC, FIDIC, COLTO]
- Relationships: Foster productive relationships with Clients; Landscape Architects; Designers, Principal Contractors, Suppliers, Service providers
- Upsell: (As a support to the operations department) Identify & negotiate upselling opportunities ensuring increasing of revenue and exceeding of net profit
- Site visits: Site visits to ensure that you keep in touch with site progress in relation to claims and program
- Industrial Relations: Attend Discipline; Grievances; Appraisals & Counselling services should the need arise.
- Recruitment: Participate in interview, selection, hiring, evaluation, training and up-skilling of staff that report to you, where and when required
- MSc Project Management / BSc (Honours) Quantity Surveying / BSc (Honours) Construction Management Degree
- Minimum of 10 years work experience in a similar role
- Computer literate (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Projects, CCS – Cady/Buildsmart) Pastel Accounting and SAGE VIP will be an advantage
- Valid Drivers Licence (Code B)
