Job Title: Senior Technician: Electrical, Automation and Instrumentation
Location: Kuils River, Cape Town
We are seeking an experienced Technician to provide high level technical support to the Electrical Maintenance Department by conducting advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures on electrical and electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan and implement improvements and modifications to existing electrical control systems and machinery.
- Provide design and planning proposals for the electrical component of all new installations and projects.
- Industrial networking and communications.
- Automation systems integration.
- Positioning systems
- Train electrical department employees (electricians) in the proper execution of all new installations and projects.
- Enforce safety standards and instructions.
- Interact with engineering and production departments to achieve company objectives and ensure minimal disruption or delay to production processes.
- Ensure maximum plant availability through selecting equipment that is reliable with readily available spares.
- Recommend and control minor project budgets.
- Assist electricians with fault finding.
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Electrical or Mechatronics preferred.
- Trade test in Instrumentation, Electrical or Millwright.
- Qualification in Medium Voltage distribution and protection.
- Siemens Step 7 PLC programming (Step 7 v 5.6 and TIA v 15 or better), Siemens WinCC
- Programming (WinCC v 7.x and TIA v 15 or better), Siemens Sinamics or Master Drives Advance.
- 5-8 years’ experience as a Technician in a heavy industrial environment.
- Experience in in a steel manufacturing environment advantageous.
- Experience in PLC and SCADA programming.
- Experience in Server maintenance and virtualization.
- Experience in variable frequency drives (Programming, commissioning, and integration).
- Experience in maintenance plans and maintenance strategy.
- Experience in breakdown and failure analysis (R.C.A.T), WCM or similar program.
- Experience in medium voltage reticulation, protection systems and transformer maintenance.
- Must be prepared to work extensive hours and be on standby.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
